What I’m discussing is literally hell on earth. A length of 5,000km of Indonesia is facing the ultimate punishment of God, buried under the deepest levels of blazing flames, except humans are the one imposing this punishment as if we have the power that can be compared to that of God. And it shouldn't require a columnist, writing in the middle of a newspaper, to say so. It should always be a part of everyone’s daily prayers, constantly asking forgiveness to Almighty God for what we have done to His creations. The scale of this sin is hard to convey, but here’s a comparison. In the Ten Commandments of the Holy Bible and the Torah, God commanded “Thou shall not kill” which prohibits human kind for unlawful killing. In the Holy Quran, God stated “Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely.”
But that doesn't really capture it. This sin cannot be measured only by its punishments in the afterlife decreed by God. This hell on earth are burning other of God’s creation that are precious and holy. Orangutans, clouded leopards, sun bears, gibbons, the Sumatran rhinoceros and Sumatran tiger, these are among the species that we are sending back to God as a result of the sin we have done. It’s not just the burning trees that is a sin. It is also the killings of surrounding species. God has blessed Indonesia's land with great domes of pits which much of the forest sits on. In the Bible, God proclaimed "If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving to you today, all will be well with you and your children". When the fires penetrate the earth, they smolder for weeks, sometimes months, releasing clouds of gases that continues to destroy the blessings that He has bestowed upon us, cursing us all for the rest of time.
